Beautiful book. Definitely captures the feel of the era

Great publication

The photographs are amazing, and it's a lot of fun to have around just to flip through on a whim. But, unless this alone will justify the price tag for you, I wouldn't recommend it. It seems to be written for people already in "the know," and for a regular Joe it's nearly impossible to enjoy as text alone. For me, the reading was difficult, seemingly random, and saturated with references to alien individuals and organizations (I was using Wikipedia quite a bit).So, if you're looking for a user-friendly primer on 70s design, I would try elsewhere first... but the pictures are fantastic.

I especially love his approach to the “1440” method that reminds us we have only 1440 minutes a day.You could read this book in less time than that and start to save time while feeling great about the extra energy and motivation. Well-written and an excellent resource for getting more out of your day and your life, check it out and stop wasting time…and your life.One last thing is, this book comes with a set of fantastic resources for readers to download with convenient links at the end of each chapter as reminders. I love the FREE resources provided.

BUY THIS. I was an over-scheduled, stressed, multi-career people pleaser. And I am a time management enthusiast. I have read all the books. This one is a gem. This talks about protecting yourself from interruptions. Scheduling your ENTIRE to-do list onto your calendar (estimating the time it will take to complete it) so you can see really how much you can fit into your day. He talks about the importance of habits and routines. He goes over just about everything. He is not pompous and perfect, he is real and very smart. It has changed my life! I am still struggling to defend my morning "focus time" from interruptions, STRUGGLING. It is amazing how attached time-wasters are to wasting your time. I am getting so much resistance. New invented excuses for yet another interruption. Dear Mr. Kruse, maybe your next book can address the strangely intense resistance that you may encounter when you really do commit to defending your time. It may be the biggest time management trick yet. :)

Easy advice to follow and I generally enjoyed it. I felt the main take-away in the book is to schedule tasks into your calendar. There's nothing too groundbreaking about the advice and I've been doing this for years.The challenges that I don't feel got adequately addressed in the book are a) how to deal with competition for your time; and b) how to deal with shiny-object syndrome. That is, first, when we're all as busy as we are, how do we take seriously the calendar time-slot and not push it off to another time or day? Second, when there is a priority we enjoy more or are more excited about, how do we complete the priority task that's far more important. I don't feel the author did an adequate job to address these issues. I also felt a huge amount of the book was just insights from other people.

I like this book - some great stuff in here. This is all modelled in the authors E-3c system that pulls it all together. But the description of how to schedule stuff immediately in the calendar and not live off to-do lists is sooo short, it renders the info almost useless. David Allen wrote the GTD "Book' on his system so you can get a good idea of how he maps the principles in real life. You get 3 pages of brief explanation in this book. As somoeone who has traditionally use goals and to-dos, i get i need to change that mindset but I dont really see how I can achieve it. kRuse mentions storing to-dos in the capture section so you don't forget them, but now i have a list of to-dos i just captured, but i am not supposed to live off of thise to-dos. Overall that lack of how-to to put it into practice has left me feeling underwhelmed.

I had been out of law school for three decades, and hadn't taken any sort of standardized exam for over a decade, when I needed to take the MPRE. All I did was read this book twice, and the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct. I scored nearly 30 points above what I needed in order to be admitted on motion in CO.

Succinct. Not too deep. It is a good overview on key focus areas. The book needs to be proof read thoroughly.

My Professional Responsibility professor recommend using this and I found it very helpful for the MPRE!

This one was not as good as others in this series (and I'm a huge fan of the Short and Happy Guides). Some of the chapters were wordy and the sentences confusing.It did help me to learn the subject matter. But it took two read throughs before it became really helpful.It needs some editing for grammar and clarity.

I ended up returning this prior to the MPRE exam, as it was a pretty poor study guide. Reading the Model Rules and Comments very closely is probably the best way to study, and this book did not add any value to that. Perhaps the other Short & Happy Guides are better, but this one is pretty useless. Two stars for effort, though.

Someone really needs to edit this book for grammar before the next publication. It is ridiculous how law professors tend to lambast students for grammatical errors, yet it is somehow alright to publish a book riddled with typos and grammatical omissions.

Woo! This made 'studying' for the MPRE a breeze! I graduated law school in 2003 but recently moved to a new state and missed the comity deadline, so I have to go through the process of taking the Bar and the MPRE to get a license. I bought this to use as a refresher course and it worked beautifully. One of the questions on the MPRE was exactly the scenario presented as an example in this book.She's clear, concise and, at times, humorous. I recommend this book.

As expected, this is a great little book to supplement my class textbooks and notes.

I bought three of Steven's books - this one, "rhythm Changes", and "Jazz Standards" - and they are all excellent. Lots of introductory method books show what to play in a single measure to get from one chord to the next, and that is a good place to start. But the next step is to create a line that is melodic and interesting over the whole song form. That's what these books do really well. The underlying theory is clearly presented, and the transcribed lines show how to put the theory in a useful musical context. Well worth the price.

Excellent book to get you grounded in walking bass lines. Clear technical explanations, good examples.Recommended.

This book is awesome. Quite simply. It introduces the main concepts behind the walking lines in a clear, concise way, and then gives you page upon page of great examples of walking bass lines in all 12 keys, and no two are identical. Also works quite well as a basic sight reading companion.

All of Steve's book are great. This is the third one I've purchased. However, had trouble downloading the play-along files. Not so with the other books.

This is by far the most concise and exhaustive series of its kind. I highly recommend this and the other four books as well. Steven was very quick to respond to my email requesting the backing tracks.

Must have item to jazz bass students.It can help to advance reading music. Seriously....

This book had a lot more information and was way more advanced than I expected. It's the most comprehensive jazz bass book I've found to date. I've been working out of several books for the last year or so, but this is going to be my focus for the foreseeable future. I will definitely be getting the others in the series.

As a writer, she has contributed parent guidance sections to many children’s books on such varied topics as shyness, parental depression, ambivalence, and a new baby in the family. She is the author of of many books for children including Shy Spaghetti and Excited Eggs and Sometimes I'm Scared. â€‹ Marc Nemiroff is a psychologist in Maryland.  He earned his doctorate at Catholic University and is a graduate from a three-year writing program offered by New Directions in Writing from the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis.  He has held faculty positions at the Washington School of Psychiatry, George Washington University Doctor of Psychology Program, and he was a long-time adviser to the Children's Book Division of American Psychological Association.  He served as Consultant to The Reginald S. Lourie Center for Infants and Young Children. When I was looking for a book to address this with my at the time very young child -7ish(I went through it with his younger sister who didn't believe a word of it) who had some questions, I looked at dozens of books and rejected most. This book did a great job of answering the questions without generating worry or questions that they didn't have until later (12, 13 years old) I didn't like the title at the time, but the very beginning of the book states that there are two meanings of sex, gender and sexual intercourse, then goes on to state that they will be using the term sexual intercourse as the proper term for the rest of the book. It gives all the facts without trying to be funny about it, proper terminology without being clinical. Just bare bones - really what most kids want to know. Now that I've been looking for some help for the same child, now 12, dealing with making sense of all the overinformation of the school friends - His questions and curiosities go in more depth. Many of the books go into, maturbation, attraction to the same gender, oral and anal sex, choosing to have sex or not, defining petting, STDs unwanted pregnancies, abortions.......Ugh, I truly think my 12 year old is too young to be thinking about any of it, but unfortunately, he has many questions thanks to friends. Knowing he'll get the answers somewhere, I'd rather know he's getting accurate information and letting him know I don't expect him to be the source of the information for others. So, if you have a teenager that has been hearing way too much, then this book is a great start, but they unfortunately probably have more questions that you can choose to address or not.FYI - my kid asks and tells much more than most - but if your child is the same age, just because they aren't telling you doesn't mean they're not hearing it. We live in a very nice "sheltered" area, so if they're hearing it in "Mayberry", chances are...

I've always been straightforward with my daughter, who is now 11, about her body. She is well informed about puberty, periods and such. I was struggling with how to talk to her about sex since she is still rather innocent in her knowledge. Many books on sex include topics like STDs, masturbation, oral sex, etc., which just seemed too advanced for her at this stage. Then I found this book - Sex and Babies...First Facts - and it was exactly what I was looking for! Very factual and straight forward. The illustrations are very much in keeping with the tone of the book. Other books I researched had cartoon illustrations, which seemed inappropriate and ridiculous. The reality of sex was shocking enough for my daughter that anything over and above what was included in this book would have been way over the top for the stage she is in. As she matures, I will certainly tackle the other issues, but for now this book was perfect. If you are looking for a way to explain the facts of sex to your child in a basic way, get this book! You will not be disappointed!

This is a safe and comfortable book that parents and teachers can use to talk about sex issues with their children. The illustrations are very helpful and the text that accompanies is factual and sensible. This is a must for all parents who have to handle the topic of sex at some point or another with their curios children.
