This book has a huge collection of music for moderate to challenging piano player. There are dozens of pieces that will inspire you to read and improve your sight reading ability in the addition to truly appreciate music. This copy is/ also able to stand open while you leave it on a lyre. The only flaw I have is that the type of print of these books can be challenging to read for congested portions of a notes, saw where a there are flats, sharps, or natural sizes around a cluster of notes in a measure, the notes can be hard to read.

Has pretty much every classical piece I've been looking for!

A good and generous selection of pieces. They appear to be the original scores, so I definitely wouldn't recommend this book for beginners. Some of the pieces are too hard (such as Liszt!) for any but advanced players, but I can play enough of them (I consider myself an intermediate player) for the purchase to have been worthwhile. It's lovely that it's a spiral-bound book and sits well on the piano's music stand.

I received this with one page partially misprinted (several bars from a Mozart piece were missing.) I wrote and told Amazon the problem and they quickly shipped a new one. The misprint was apparently a fluke as this one looks perfect. This is an excellent collection and if you only buy one collection like it, I would choose this one again. Could not be happier.

I bought a copy of this book in April 2015. It is a fantastic collection of music. But the printing quality is awful---many of the pages were slightly blurry instead of sharp and crisp and had incompletely printed lines and characters. It looks sort of like a newspaper from the 1800s. The pages were also not cut right, so instead of being perfectly flat, the right edge of the book is all ragged with pages of different length sticking out different amounts. I would avoid until there's evidence the printing problems have been fixed (maybe I just got a bad copy).

Beautiful, a multitude of beautiful pieces, but absolutely listen to me when I say that this book is not for beginners. As frustrating as it can be to have to buy books that say 'easy' version of classical songs (because you want to know the real version of it, the right version right away), maybe try getting the books from this brand that are labelled as 'easy'. I have been playing piano since I was a child, and these pieces of no jokes. I had to go through and mark which ones I'm capable of playing at my current level (With very, very hard work) and I'll somehow work my way up to the others, whether that's on my own or with an actual teacher. But do not, under any circumstances, buy this book unless you are a high-intermediate level of piano, or else you'll get absolutely no use out of it.

200% more than I expected. This book is bound so it stays open and is much larger, thicker than I expected. Arrangements are so that I can play some right away and am challenged by some others. I consider myself an intermediate player. I play for my own pleasure and therapy. I recommend this book.

Lots of songs to play through which was a plus. What was disappointing was that most of it wasn't "advanced", which I expected as I read a review that said the exact same thing. A majority of it was intermediate level. But the biggest troll was that there were a lot of easy songs spread throughout the book as well, much more than the advanced songs. For example, one of the songs that got me the most was a 1 page song that was literally like first grade level. I'd say you'd only need to learn how to play piano for 2 months at most to play it fairly quickly. Also, the printing wasn't perfect as some notes were pretty small and hard to read (not darkened enough). Compared to my other books with the same songs in them, the style of how the notes were written was not my taste and made it even harder to comprehend quickly. For these reasons, I knock it down to a 3 star rating.Also 2 of my pages were stuck together at the top due to it not being cut right by the machine and I accidentally ripped the page as I flipped through :/

This is a very good collection with varying intermediate technical levels and nice fingering notations. Easy to read and easy to navivate turning due to ring binding. Exactly what I wanted. I studied for 16 years but now just want collections of classics i can sit down and rattle off for fun and this fits the bill.

There have been several excellent reviews that list the strengths of The Art of Fermentation. I can only add one thing - the author does an excellent job of citing his sources. I really appreciate that he does so - it allows me to go back and check for new, updated research and expand my reading. I particularly appreciate this in his section on fermentation and health. He adamantly does not claim fermented foods area a panacea and is skeptical of some of the touted benefits of various foods (kombucha as a cure for diabetes, for example). He argues, quite successfully, that fermented foods have their place in a well balanced, healthy, diet and provides the studies, traditions, and first-hand knowledge that demonstrates why.For those who are wondering which book would be the better choice, this book is not just an expanded version of Wild Fermentation. It's a different take on the subject that goes in depth in the process and concepts behind fermentation. Many different types of fermentation using different bases - grains, vegetables, fruit, etc - are explored. Be aware that this is not a cookbook or an introductory text, however. Traditional recipes are scarce. If you are looking for "add X tablespoon of salt to Y amount of cabbage" you will be disappointed. If you want to know about different fermentation methods used around the world so you can branch out in your own culinary experiments, this is the book for you.If you're an absolute novice, Wild Fermentation is probably the better starting place. It gives recipes and walks you through the steps more than The Art of Fermentation. Once you've made a few things and want to know more, the Art of Fermentation will really come into it's own!

First off: this book is beautiful. Hardcover, with a series of full-color plates 1/3rd and 2/3rds through. For only twice the price of a flimsy paperback, you're investing in five hundred solidly-constructed pages that will last.And a good thing, because this book is destined to be a classic.You don't need to have read Katz' other work, Wild Fermentation: The Flavor, Nutrition, and Craft of Live-Culture Foods, to understand, appreciate, and use this book - it stands alone. If you already own Wild Fermentation, don't be put off by the duplication of some recipes in the Table of Contents. Yes, sauerkraut, kimchi, and pickles are in here, but every section is greatly expanded with much more information and many more references. (Ever thought of using a layer of cooking oil as an airlock? Neither had I, but I'm going to try it!)Speaking of references... the Resources, Glossary, and Works Cited chapters could keep you busy for a few years.And yes: you will use this book. As Michael Pollan states in the well-written foreword, this is not one of those cookbooks you buy for the nice pictures and keep on your coffee table. This is a project manual. Fermentation is something you have to experience to understand, and Katz give you absolutely everything you need to get started. The first 67 pages are devoted entirely to the beginner, focusing not on specific recipes but on answering the inevitable questions: "WHY would I want to ferment food? is it safe? what equipment and general expertise do I need?"Again from Pollan: "Katz writes about the transformative power of fermentation with such infectious enthusiasm that he makes you want to try things just to see what happens." This is so true. Even if you don't initially intend to, many of these 'recipes' are so simple and unintimidating (hard apple cider, mead, sauerkraut and its derivatives, sourdough) that it's hard to resist the urge to pick up a box of Mason jars and some fresh produce the next time you're at the grocery store. Many of us are experimenters at heart, and fermentation is the perfect mix of art and science to tap into this nature and inspire all kinds of crazy projects.Already the neighborhood King of Kraut? I guarantee that this book will still have something for you. Chapter 12 - "Fermenting Meat, Fish, and Eggs" isn't enough? Turn to Chapter 13, for a short but serious discussion of what it takes to turn a fermentation hobby into a small business. Notes about scaleup, HACCP plans, and licensing are cool to read about, though I have no plans to open a tempeh factory anytime soon. Or how about Chapter 14 - "Non-Food Applications of Fermentation"? Again, I don't live on a farm, but it is neat to read about compost, silage, and bioremediation. (Surprise: Katz doesn't buy into corn ethanol biofuels)While this is by no means a biology textbook, the scientific content is much improved over Wild Fermentation. Chapter 1 - "Fermentation as a Coevolutionary Force" is, in general, accurate and well-referenced. Katz is not a formally-trained scientist, but he does not shy away from technical details when they are helpful for understanding, and he shows respect for the scientific method and its results. See, for instance, his discussion of 'homofermentative' and 'heterofermentative' organisms in vegetable fermentation (pg 96), or of commercial starter cultures (pg 132).If you subsist on white bread and margarine and bleach your cutting boards after every use, fermentation may not be the hobby for you. The first time I skimmed some strangely-textured yeast off of a crock of fermenting beets, I have to admit I was a little skeptical what those beets would look like when I pulled them out (they were absolutely delicious). While some of my more imaginative fermentation adventures have yielded delicious results, a few have been downright terrible (yep, ate them anyway!). If you don't see any issue with carving a bit of mold off some cheese or a piece of fruit instead of throwing it out, then you probably have what it takes.Many (most?) of the poor reviews on Wild Fermentation are from people taking issue with Katz' lifestyle or philosophies. Many of his philosophical discussions in this book are backed up with hard science and references, so even those who found Wild Fermentation to be overbearing may find this new book to be more palatable. If you have some problem with the fact that Katz has HIV (he states this outright in the new book, and includes a sidebar about how fermented foods may be helpful but they are not a disease cure), do the rest of us a favor and keep it to yourself.I've been experimenting with fermentation for about a year, relying mostly on Wild Fermentation and a substantial collection of online resources. I've only had this book for a week, and I've already had tons of fun and learned a lot. When I'm finished with my read-through, this book will definitely be making its rounds among my friends. A great reference and a worthwhile investment - highly recommended.

Fermentation was frankly something I had little to no experience or interest in until a few years ago....even then it was a slow progression. For health reasons (we're not getting any younger) we started taking an active interest in food - both the quality of the food and the preparation practices. The more we learned, the more we started cooking, baking and making our own food.Bread was perhaps one of the very first things we took the time to make from scratch and soon the bread baking became a weekly tradition. Fresh baked bread is so delicious, warm and comforting. Of course, that led to grinding our own flour and since bread is so much like beer - my spouse began experimenting with home brewed beer and wine and even soda. It wasn't long before something always seemed to be brewing in the kitchen and at least one of us, was quickly becoming a fermentation fan.Over those few years, our diet, shopping habits, food choices and preparation methods changed fairly radically from what we had thought was a decent diet to an all organic, homemade diet with local produce when possible. It was during that time I started hearing more and more about the benefits of fermentation of other foods - but frankly, not having grown up around anything remotely related to food preparation, I had no idea what was/wasn't fermented. In fact, I thought pickles were always made with vinegar and canned - I had no idea they were fermented. Ditto for sauerkrout or oodles of other items. Somewhere along the line, I came across Sandor's first book on fermentation and purchased it. It was NOT love at first sight...in fact, after the first read, I thought it sounded horrible (rotted food?!) and set it aside for at least another year.Then by chance, I happened to taste some REAL pickles..then fermented salsa and several other things that just knocked my socks off. I pulled that book out and decided to give it a try. Low and behold, it worked like a charm!Soon I was buying big fermentation pots and since then we have become regular consumers of fermented products made a home. I then bought the book and video set and several other books on fermentation...in fact, by this point, I probably own most of the major books about fermentation. So, when this came up as an advanced order option, I purchased it right away although I wasn't sure what to expect. It was delivered early and right from the start, it is obvious this book is MUCH larger than previous books. It provides a exemplary overview of fermentation from both a historical perspective as well as current uses around the globe. The information expands upon the understanding of fermentation in a dramatic way. It's both interesting and informative. Without a doubt, it's one of the best books I've read on the subject and I've read a LOT of them!Now, if you are just wanting an introduction to fermentation with a few quick and easy recipes' and examples, the older books by Katz are probably still your best choice. On the other hand, if you are a person that likes to understand a topic in depth when starting something new, this may be more to your liking.Existing fermentation fans will ABSOLUTELY want to purchase this new book for the expanded knowledge, information and insight. I am Shere Khan the Tiger, and I approve this message!The Jungle Book 2016 movie met my expectations at best and in certain areas is an improvement of the 1967 animated film. Once I saw the film, I was dying to find the book literally. I was in so much need of it cuz I enjoy reading books and differentiating them from their film counterparts. I especially love how the books explains what the character's are going through, experiencing, thinking, feeling in such great detail. It's much more creative than in the movies obviously and it is exactly how it is with this book.The book is pretty big due to the chapters being so short in order for it to be longer. The book's front and back cover looks and feels great. It's pretty much like watching the whole movie from start to finish as you read on. With the exception of a few minor changes added which is what they always do of course. It's a lot of fun especially those like me who love the Jungle Book and are big fans of the new film.After all I am the antagonist of the Jungle Book aren't I? ;)

Recent disney books are a big disappointment. They have fewer pictures that barely cover the story from the movie. This book, has a twist to movie's version, yet it's a good book, since it conveys the story in pictures. My 3 year old was able to grasp the story simply by following the pictures... it's other story though, because my 3 year old liked the book's version better than the movie's version. He now questions the movie is not following the book ... :(

Love this book. I read this book to my 5 year old son. After reading the book we watched the movie and it was nice seeing the visual words which were described in the book.

It's fairly well written and certainly compliments the movie. I did find it rather disconcerting that nowhere in the book did I find mention that this book is based on Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book.

This item was purchase as a gift and the little person that it went to can not put it down. He just love to read it . After he finish his homework he runs to pickup the book and read more and more each day.

Very nice compact edition of this great book! I've had the original $200 version and the later, smaller $69 version (still too big in my opinion) and I like this one the best. Easier to hold and read..you don't need a table or a pillow in your lap like with the others. OK, some pictures are smaller, but they did a good job reformatting everything into the new design. I think there are less film frames from the movies, but that was one thing I didn't like about the old versions..half the book is frame grabs. I don't mind some, but anyone buying the book is a fan who owns the films like me and doesn't need stills in a book anyway. The price is so cheap, as well. Now, please do the James Bond Archives book in this smaller format, please.

I know the phrase "Must-Have" has been so overused as to to become meaningless, but in this case, it is more than applicable.Kubrick was notoriously protective of the research materials he collected for his films. As a Kubrick devotee - and all devotees of The Master's work will attest - I have long wished for the opportunity for a peek "behind the scenes," an examination of the mind behind the films. A glimpse into the processThis book provides that glimpse. It's quite thorough, and 95% of the stuff you will see here is comprised of actual Kubrick notes, script variants, and process documentation - stuff we have never scene. He was very protective of his films throughout the production process, but - surprisingly against the urban myths that surround the man - he was far more open in the process than we have been led to believe.I know it's only a very thin sliver of the amount of material in the Kubrick Archives - he kept everything - but still it allows us to peek behind the curtains. To stand behind and beside the man as he works out his vision.

An outstanding book indeed ..!Looking at this most excellent document again and again -- I felt as if I was invited into Mr. Kubrick's large family kitchen ... (on most any night he was with us mere mortals) ...... and sat there with him going over the notes, the location pictures, etc., and was 'there' as he, we, they discussed the who,what,where & how it was going to be, in the most minute details, on any and-or all of his films.NOTE: If that was one long sentence, it was on purpose. And that, fellow Kubrick Fans, is how I felt with the vast amount of his research & archives -- and what it took to get his films made and ultimately pared down to just a few hours. Had he actually made his 'NAPOLEON' without any of the studios getting their cold feet that they did, just imagine it ... the film may have been a 10 hour film with two intermissions.Not a day goes by that I don't think and respect the life & career that was Stanley Kubrick's ...As a commercial director myself for over 30+years, I can tell you 90% of every Commercial / TV / Feature Director I have ever known personally wanted to be Steven Spielberg.Me? I wanted to be Stanley Kubrick.Great book -- get it, own it. Will be worth boo-koo bucks in the future -- but I won't sell mine. Because this is truly unlike any other book on the late Mr. Kubrick and his vast, concise research. BRAVO TO THE STANLEY KUBRICK ARCHIVES !!!D.A.

This is certainly a wonderful book in any format and well worth purchasing to dip into the incredible mind of Kubrick. This reprint of the book is half the size of the first but of course its way cheaper and affordable for the average movie fan. There is no interview Cd or 2001 cinefilm, certain drawcards to purchasing the original book, but its got the same photos and info as the original. I was slightly disappointed as to the size of the book as I expected it to be the same massive size as the original print, but that is why this version is cheaper.There are 2 sections. The first is a plethora of high quality photos from all of Kubrick's classics, notably a glorious section on 2001, Clockwork Orange and The Shining. With the latter film there are some disturbing photos including a full page blow up of the twins axed to death. The section on Barry Lyndon captures the art decorum of the frames, and Full Metal Jacket photos bring back the excitement of that powerhouse film. the section on Eyes Wide Shut is well documented, including some full on sex scenes in the red mansion, and some nudity; not for the children.The second section is how the films are made and I spent some time pouring through the interview with Kubrick from Playboy mag that focuses on 2001 and veers off into philosophical discussion on the existence of UFOs, aliens, origins of creation and the meaning of life. The photos in this section are all behind the scenes and very rare. The Clockwork Orange scene is particularly eye opening. The end of the book shows the making of the film that never was Napoleon, and then a comprehensive bio on the great director.A great book that is a must for Kubrick fans and cinephiles.

I've been doing tapping work with Nick Ortner for about 6 months or so, I've kind of lost track. I have gained so much weight on bipolar medicine, tell Jessica I listen to her Tapping for weight loss while I take a bath (I use to just rush through my baths and not enjoy them, now I take the time to tap while I bath and now love my baths). It helps me stay on the exercising equipment longer and I want you to know I no longer have panic attacks. They use to frighten me so much, I felt like I was dying. It feels good to have more peace in my life. I have been losing weight, I feel great knowing that anytime I begin to feel anxious no matter where I am all I have to do is Pick up my hands and start tapping. I tap while I am riding the bike at the gym, I don't worry about other people wondering what I am doing. If they ask I will tell them what I am doing,it's called EFT tapping!
